How to Form Community Connections as a Scenthound Franchisee

Forming community connections is an important aspect of owning a Scenthound. Afterall, it’s your community that will make up your customer base and sing your praises. Philanthropic efforts, connecting with pet parents and fostering partnerships are all ways Scenthound franchisees form connections in their communities.

Philanthropy

Make a difference. It’s one of our core values. Doing what we can to give back is important to our Scenthound franchisees, and one of the ways we do that is with our Scenthound Salutes program.

The Scenthound Salutes program honors everyday heroes — and the furry friends they love. The program takes turns recognizing groups like educators, firefighters and foster dog families by providing their pups with free B/E/N/T services for a month at a time.

In addition to helping community members, philanthropy can also lead to positive business outcomes. Not only will it give your Scenthound business a favorable reputation, showing you care about your community, but it also gets new customers into your Scenter. By providing one free B/E/N/T service to a teacher who gives so much of to the young people of your community, you could be fostering a long-term customer relationship and making a teacher’s day at the same time.

Pet Parents

According to a 2019 study of 2,000 dog parents conducted by Boomerang, nearly half of all pup parents have made other human friends during walks and other dog-related outings. And it makes sense. You and your pup probably have a routine, whether it’s the time of day you go for a walk or the particular parks you frequent. Other pet parents in your area also have their habits. And if you cross paths often enough, you are sure to strike up conversations and discuss commonalities.

This group of fellow pet parents will grow to know you and your Scenter and appreciate you as a dog lover. These are the people who are going to not only trust you with their business, but also with their furriest family members. Having strong connections with other pet parents is a great, grassroots way to build your Scenthound business.

Community Partners

Partnering with other leaders in the local pet industry is another way for Scenthound franchisees to build mutually beneficial connections. Several of the flagship Scenters in Southern Florida have partnered with the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. Our partnership looks like this:

  • Charity dog washes where a portion of the proceeds benefit the League

  • The Clean-Start Membership Drive that gives an adoptable dog a free B/E/N/T service for each new Monthly Care Club Membership sold in a month

  • A coupon for a free B/E/N/T to every new pet parent that adopts from the League

This partnership helps make a difference in the lives of rescue dogs and encourages new customers to visit a Scenter for the first time. It’s a win-win. As a Scenthound franchisee, we encourage you to create partnerships like this in your own community.
